A word from Nathalie… Founder

A human and passionate commitment

My passion for birth began with a personal experience I had at the age of 15, when I accompanied my sister during the birth of her first child at a clinic. This extraordinary moment left a deep impression on me. I witnessed the strength of a woman giving birth, the magic of a newborn’s first breath, the arrival of new life, and the transformative journey of becoming a mother. So much beauty.

Having spent my childhood in West Africa and lived for six years in Central America, I have been based in Geneva for many years, where I passionately studied midwifery. My four years of experience at the maternity ward of HUG allowed me to build a strong foundation, leading me to become self-employed in 2001. In 2009, I founded the Dix Lunes birth center, which I had the pleasure of managing for ten years. In 2023, Dix Lunes was reorganized as a midwifery organization to continue providing comprehensive perinatal care, supported by a wonderful and highly skilled team of midwives.

As a mother of four boys, I deeply believe in the natural ability of women to give birth and breastfeed. Passionate about my profession and committed to meeting the needs of expectant mothers, I continuously expand my knowledge through ongoing training in areas such as breastfeeding (including tongue-tie), hypnobirthing, infant sleep, acupuncture, radiofrequency therapy, and more.

Our services to support your pregnancy

We answer your questions about your pregnancy

Ideally, prenatal care with a midwife should begin as early as possible. Unfortunately, insurance will only cover these visits starting from the 13th week of pregnancy. The initial exams can be performed by your gynecologist, and the midwife will then take over for the monthly checkups. Even if you are under the care of a midwife, your gynecologist remains your primary care physician and can be consulted if necessary or if any issues arise during or after pregnancy. It is important to inform them of your decision to be cared for by a midwife and to ask them to provide you with your medical records. We do not perform ultrasounds, but they can be done by your gynecologist or at specialized centers to which we will refer you.

To best support you as you prepare to welcome your baby home, we recommend starting prenatal care no earlier than 13 weeks and no later than 32 weeks into your pregnancy. You must be in good health, and your pregnancy must not involve any medical complications. There must be only one baby in your uterus, positioned head-down by the end of the pregnancy. Contrary to popular belief, this process is entirely possible for women who are expecting their first child.

After your baby is born, the midwife will provide support and guidance during the first few weeks. She is trained to offer both physical and emotional support to parents and will be able to tailor her care to meet your needs and those of your baby. She will pay special attention to the baby’s weight gain and development, the mother’s recovery, and the harmony of the new family. Drawing on her expertise, she will teach you techniques for babywearing, massage, and various care practices for both you and your baby.

During the first few weeks after your baby is born, breastfeeding plays a key role in the postpartum care provided by your midwife. However, problems can sometimes arise well after this initial period, or adjustments may be necessary—particularly when you return to work, when you begin weaning your baby partially or completely, or even when your toddler starts daycare.

Erzsébet and Arnaud
My first childbirth was the most painful yet most beautiful experience of my life; it was pure ecstasy when we saw our little Alix’s face for the first time. It was a long-awaited event, and thanks to Nathalie, we’ll always cherish those memories.

Thank you for your support (….) and your spot-on advice, given at just the right moment, along with your selfless dedication and gentle, reassuring personality, which helped us get through everything as smoothly as possible, see it through to the end, and ultimately give birth in love, in a beautiful setting.
Camille, Agathe, Lucie
Thank you for your support and help during the delivery…which certainly took too long for my liking for a third baby, but luckily I was surrounded by loved ones in a wonderful place….Long live the bathtub!!! I also loved strolling through the garden, surrounded by greenery, and at night, surrounded by stars and the waxing moon! My little Agathe, just as mischievous as Mélina…had her head in the wrong position and so didn’t come out right away!
