Home birth. a unique moment to prepare with care

Choosing a home birth requires preparation and planning to ensure your baby is welcomed safely into the world. It means opting for an intimate and comfortable experience. Our personalized support guarantees comprehensive care, from the onset of contractions through to those first moments with your newborn.

Our support includes:

  • Pregnancy follow-up: a minimum of 4 prenatal consultations with the midwife, starting no later than 34 weeks of pregnancy.
  • A preliminary visit to the place of birth (located within 30 minutes of a maternity unit).
  • Selection of a pediatrician for the newborn’s examination after birth.
  • Motivation for a natural birth without anesthesia, with a clear understanding of the benefits, limitations, and risks, and the signing of informed consent.

Safety and peace of mind: our top priority for your delivery!

Although the majority of home births proceed without complications, we are prepared for any eventuality. If a transfer to the hospital becomes necessary, we make that decision with clarity and authority to ensure your safety and that of your baby at all times. The receiving hospital is always notified before the due date.

The Process of a Home Birth

01. Birth preparation

Preparing for a home birth begins well before the big day. Together, we choose the ideal space in your home, organize the necessary equipment, and discuss your personal preferences, including who you would like to have by your side, as well as arrangements for older children if needed.

02. Two midwives by your side

The midwives at DixLunes will be by your side every step of the way, ensuring they support you in your abilities and respond to your desires and wishes. With practical advice and constant support, they will encourage you to find the most comfortable positions for labor, using aids such as a birthing ball, cushions, and a sling for your comfort. The Maya birthing chair can be used if needed, and water birth is possible thanks to a special birthing tub, delivered to your home in the weeks leading up to your due date.

03. The Birth

Immediately after your baby’s arrival, we will perform the standard health checks for you and your child and assist with the first breastfeeding session.

Upon prior agreement, the pediatrician of your choice will visit your home within 48 hours to perform specific checkups on your newborn.
